Job Title: Head of Sales
Location: Midlands
Salary: Circa £60,000 (pro-rata) + potential 25% bonus
Job Type: Part Time initially (16-25 hours per week), Permanent
This Company has developed transformative chemical reactor technology that enables converting any chemical process into flow. Based on University research , the company was spun out in 2016. They won a £500k development grant from Innovate UK in 2016 and EUR 1.2 million award from the European Innovation Council (EIC) SME Instrument scheme in 2019. They are building and testing a small-scale pilot plant to make medicines, vitamins and food supplements.
The Role:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head of Sales is responsible for delivering the company’s revenue and other income targets. The role requires developing and managing relationships with existing and potential clients, feeding back market needs and identifying new opportunities where there is market demand for the Company to capitalize on.
The incumbent will develop relationships with key decision makers in the chemical industry as well as contacts within other relevant sectors including academia.
Responsibilities:
- Spearhead BD initiatives consistent with the company’s overall strategy, including authoring a broad plan for Sales and Business Development, which aligns with Corporate Vision and targets
- Contribute to and lead sales activity by example
- Devise the marketing and sales plans and manage marketing projects and marketing communications
- Develop key account relationships with major clients
- Write commercial proposals and win new customers and business with limited support
- Manage key strategic partnerships related to Business Development initiatives (e.g. grant awarding bodies), including putting consultancy contracts in place
- Contribute toward the selling of commission-earning products and services
- Set up a distributor network and negotiate agreements
- Work with the team to deliver and exceed commercial targets
- Recruit and manage marketing and sales support staff as business expands
Note: International travel to potential clients and relevant conferences will be required (pandemic permitting).
The Candidate:
- Skilled/experienced hunter (7 years plus experience)
- Knowledge of flow /catalytic chemistry
- Experienced in chemical sales/environment
- Highly independent, energetic and motivated self-starter
- Arrive with relevant contacts in order to schedule appointments shortly upon joining the team
- Solid understanding of the company’s market: products, players, technologies, and contacts in related markets
- Lives/can operate in UK – has right to work here
- Proven, documented sales track record that referees will confirm
- Highly independent, self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude, able to penetrate new territory and companies with minimal direction and management
- Highly focused, goal-oriented, able to prioritize well
- Able to do 50% travel as needed to meet targets
- A first degree in a relevant discipline with an MBA, MSc or PhD desired or equivalent experience
