Location: Harrogate
Salary: £58,778 – £61,882 per annum + excellent benefits
Job type: Permanent, Full Time (37 hours per week)
Closing Date: 11th July 2019
The Role:
Do you have the experience, technical know-how and people-skills to run operations at Yorkshire’s biggest multi-purpose event venue?
Job Duties:
Both the Harrogate Convention Centre and The Royal Hall theatre welcome more than 300,000 business and leisure visitors each year and are the biggest drivers of economic impact in the Harrogate region.
They’re now looking to appoint a Head of Operations with the skills and knowledge to ensure the operations, facilities, technical, and front-of-house teams are integrated and performing at their best.
You’ll be joining them at an exciting time as they look to position themselves at the forefront of a challenging and competitive UK event industry. While Harrogate Convention Centre and The Royal Hall have been hosting events since 1835, as Head of Operations you will be integral to ensuring they continue to develop and evolve as a business and a venue.
This will include responsibility for maintaining and improving the buildings functionality on a day to day basis, which involves nurturing a Grade II heritage property.
In conjunction with the Director and Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for setting departmental and individual budgets and controlling expenditure across both venues. As Head of Operations, you will also oversee the procurement of a number of critical tenders adhering to the Council’s procurement framework.
The Candidate:
It is likely that you will have had an impressive career to date with an existing venue of comparable size within the conference and exhibition arena. However applications are also welcome from similar or aligned industries that require a forensic operational approach.
Above all you will be an excellent people manager with ability to inspire, as well as make quick operational decisions under pressure. It’s also essential that you possess the self-confidence and the gravitas to interact with both clients and the Management Board, as well as a passion for embracing the Council’s “one council” ethos.
Benefits:
In return there are excellent benefits, including a flexi-time scheme, generous annual leave entitlement, agile working, a contributory pension scheme, various staff discounts, parking and the ability to purchase additional annual leave.
