As they build on our ‘good’ inspection, and continue on an exciting improvement journey, they are looking for an experienced leader to join our Senior Leadership Team within the Integrated Adolescent Safeguarding Service.
About the role:
The Head of Integrated Adolescent Safeguarding Service and the Virtual school provides strategic leadership across the Youth Justice Service, Youth Services, and education for Looked After Children, whilst addressing serious youth violence and exploitation in Havering.
The role takes an active lead within multi-disciplinary teams in a social care environment, aimed at improving opportunities for children and young people between 10 and 18 years old, in addition to young people up to 25 with Special Education Needs & Disabilities (SEND).
The Head of Service is influential in establishing preventative measures focused on adolescent safeguarding, identifying triggers to detect young people who are vulnerable to criminal exploitation.

Promoting positive language and attitudes toward young people, their networks and communities, our fundamental aim is to safeguard children and young people who may be at risk of harm outside of their family and home environments.

However these are not the only skills they are looking for. To be shortlisted for the position you must be able to clearly evidence the following within your application
- Experience in children’s services, managing multi-disciplinary teams
- Chairing of complex multi-agency meetings
- Experience of working with children, families and professionals within a children’s services and / or youth / young adult environment
- High level knowledge of legislation and guidance relevant to contextual safeguarding and / or education of LAC
- Working knowledge and understanding of the benefits of early intervention and support
- Experience of managing budgets and resources
The ideal candidate is educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience, and demonstrates evidence of additional training or professional development, particularly in the field of children’s services or the adolescent safeguarding/youth justice environment is desirable, although not essential.
