Job Title: Head of Apprenticeships

Location: London

Salary: £43,000 – £55,000 per annum based on experience

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

With a good knowledge of skills frameworks and funding models you will be able to act as a trusted adviser to employers and educators, expertise in digital careers would be a benefit but is not essential if you have a strong interest and desire to learn.

Having played a leading role in developing digital degree apprenticeships we have worked in close partnership with universities and employers to make the digital pathway one of the most successful apprenticeship routes to careers.  Demand for digital skills amongst employers continues to grow and we believe there is huge potential for this to increase as we grow our number of partners and enhance our offering to learners.

The successful candidate will work with the current team to develop our existing programme of communications and events to promote our programmes and the success of the apprentices.  Developing successful partnerships is essential to everything we do and this role will act as a focal point developing and maintaining these through liaison with key stakeholders including the Institute of Apprenticeships and Technical Education, Course Leaders within Universities and Employer talent teams.  As a senior member of the team you will work closely with other team members and the wider team at techUK to deliver value to education partners.

You will play a strategic role in developing the long-term effectiveness of our business, ensuring we leverage our unique position in the market to promote the sector and develop new offerings that increase the impact and effectiveness of our work.

Key duties:

  • Working effectively as part of a small team to make a big impact
  • Representation of employers and other stakeholders in liaison with IfATE
  • Coordination and facilitation of Digital Trailblazer meetings
  • Preparing and submitting the Standard, End Point Assessment and Costing Input for new/updated apprenticeship Standards
  • Maintaining degree apprenticeship accreditation documentation and creating documentation for new standards
  • Building our employer and university communities through strong service and promotion of our activities
  • Production of regular newsletters to keep key stakeholders informed, celebrate the success of learners and promote our work
  • Working alongside team members to design, deliver and promote events that highlight the digital apprentice pathway
  • Development and on-boarding of new university or employer partners
  • Liaison with Accreditation Specialists to carry out the accreditation review of new degree apprenticeship programmes

Person specification:

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • Excellent working knowledge of Apprenticeship Standards and assessment and how these both underpin and deliver value for apprentices
  • Knowledge of the Apprenticeship Levy and how it operates to incentivise employer investment in skills
  • Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with employer groups to agree and implement educational/training standards
  • Clear demonstration of personal impact, this is a ‘hands on’ role that will require someone who welcomes the opportunity to put ideas into action and deliver outstanding results
  • A proactive decision-maker who is able to effectively analyse marketing data and create and deliver plans based on insights to support the organisational goals
  • Good working knowledge of digital tools and how they can be used to support collaborative and effective working practices with both internal and external stakeholders

Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in working in the tech sector, training or academic environments.
  • Expertise in working with universities and employers
  • Previous work in the accreditation and training landscape in digital skills and an understanding of trade associations/membership bodies.
