Salary: £19,554 – £21,166 per annum (£13,144 – £14,227 pro rata’d)

The Academy has an immediate need for an enthusiastic Chef Manager to be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient operation of all aspects of catering services within their Academy.
They serve a long-standing local community in the Braunstone area of Leicester. They operate in an open culture with ambitious staff, very well supported by the Trust who are committed to accelerating our progress for the benefit of our 460 pupils and for the future of Queensmead.
The Role:
The successful applicant will work alongside GAT policies and procedures, to ensure that all catering services are of the highest possible standard.
You will be required to manage other catering staff to ensure their compliance, and ensure that stock is ordered in a timely manner.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To provide a breakfast, break, lunch and hospitality service to the Academy
- To ensure that internal Academy and statutory regulations pertaining to the safe and hygienic operation of the kitchen and ancillary areas are adhered to by all members of staff and visitors
- To assist the Regional Catering Manager to plan menus, write and place orders, stocktake, receive and store deliveries as required. To assist with and oversee cashing up and banking procedures as necessary
- To ensure that all duties and tasks under your control are covered by the staff available, including yourself
- To ensure that preparation, presentation and service are carried out to comply with the required Trust standards
- To be aware of and adhere to portion sizes and to control portion standards during production and service to ensure sufficient choice for service and minimising waste
- To complete all necessary paperwork to the Trust standards, including stocktaking, menu compilation, product ordering and invoice processing, ensuring all work and financial targets are met
- To observe and promote hygiene and safety rules and staff professional standards/code of conduct and to ensure at all times they are adhered to by all members of staff under your management
- To promote high personal standards of performance, personal hygiene and appearance
- To report/record any customer feedback and take some remedial action if at all possible
- To provide an efficient, caring and accommodating service to customers in all areas of the catering department and deal with customer requests promptly, communicating well and demonstrating a pleasant and polite personality
- To ensure that all products are well presented and served in a clean, hygienic environment
- To ensure that the counter presentation and service is to the Academy’s/Trust’s standards, ensuring quantities and proportions are sufficient to satisfy demand
- To assist with extraneous catering that may take place outside normal working hours
- To report immediately any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food, or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate or possible
- To attend meetings and training courses as necessary. Be trained / willing to be trained in food safety and supervisory skills at an intermediate level. Promote & assist any training identified for catering staff under your management
- Carry out staff personal development reviews ensuring all objectives are measurable and realistic
- Any other responsibilities deemed appropriate to the level of the post
The Candidate:
Essential
- A Level 2 Food Safety Certificate and or willing to be trained in NVQ Level 3 in Catering and Hospitality
- An understanding of food hygiene regulations
- Experience of managing a kitchen, including knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and practices
- Able to lead, motivate and work as part of a team
- Great organisational skills

- Working within an education establishment
