Job Title: Group Supply Chain Manager

Location: Beckton, East London

Salary: Up to £55,000 p/a + Company Car

Job type: Full time, permanent. Based in our head office with national travel

About us:

Marwood Group Limited is a well-established and respected company specialising in non-mechanical plant. Established in the early 1970’s as a family run concern which specialised in hiring Compressors and Air Tools to construction and utility companies. Today we now supply a wide range of non-mechanical plant, lifting equipment and safety equipment to a diverse customer base throughout the UK.

The Role:

  • Direct or coordinate production, purchasing, warehousing and distribution to limit costs and improve accuracy, customer service and safety
  • Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet product distribution needs
  • Direct the movement, storage, or processing of inventory

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Review or update supply chain practices in accordance with new or changing environmental policies, standards, regulations, or laws
  • Appraise vendor manufacturing ability through on-site visits and measurements
  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors and transport providers
  • Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements
  • Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities
  • Develop or implement procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers
  • Analyse information about supplier performance or procurement program success
  • Design or implement supply chains that support environmental policies
  • Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows
  • Design or implement factory warehousing strategies for production materials or finished products
  • Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality
  • Analyse inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience, and personal attributes.

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 4+ years supply chain
  • Knowledge of construction plant
  • Purchasing and production experience
  • Management of office and production staff
  • Transportation planning
  • Experience in Plant Hire industry (desirable)
  • Production of steel and plastic products (desirable)
  • 6+ years manufacturing (desirable)
