Job Title: Groundsperson

Location: Ware, Hertfordshire

Salary: Full-time – £21,556

Job Type: Part Time/Full Time. Hours: Up to 40-hours per week, normally 8.00am – 4.30pm.

With excellent transport links and only 30 minutes by train to central London stations, the College is 20 minutes’ drive from junction 25 of the M25, immediately off the A10. Also within easy access is London Stansted airport, which is a 20-minute drive.

The Role

St Edmund’s College offers modern facilities in a magnificent country setting in rural Hertfordshire, providing a safe and stimulating environment for young minds.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Groundsperson to assist the team of staff with looking after the grounds and sports facilities.

Whilst not in a teaching role, as Deputy Head of Grounds you will be working on a regular basis in a school in a role which gives opportunity for contact with children. As such, you will be in regulated activity and an enhanced DBS check (which includes children’s barred list information) will be required in advance of appointment

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. As with all College staff members, you will therefore be responsible for providing a safe environment in which children can learn.

Ideal candidate

Applicants must have good communication skills and the ability to work on their own initiative.
A basic knowledge of sports pitch set up / layouts would be desirable but is not essential. Whilst we are proud to be England’s oldest Catholic school, we welcome applications from all colleagues who wish to be part of our ethos.
