Job Title: Graduate Structural Engineer
Location: Chessington
Salary: £28-34,000 per annum
Job type: Permanent. Full-time. 37.5 hours over 5 days per week
Overview: Candidates will be involved in defect diagnosis and reporting of housing defects; inspecting properties with structural defects (ranging from subsidence, floods, fire, damp etc); and the design and specification of refurbishments and new construction.

Candidates selected for interview would need to demonstrate that they comply with the following person specification:
Essential requirements:
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a university recognised by the IStructE or ICE
- Hold a valid driving license and have access to a car and be willing to use it for site visits subject to the payment of expenses.
- Live within a local commutable distance of up 5 miles / 45 minutes
- Knowledge of basic engineering principles
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage time with multiple tasks
- Knowledge of British Standards / Euro Codes
- Display knowledge and appreciation of building construction and be able to draw detailed clear and tidy hand sketches for the purposes of identifying current and proposed construction.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD.
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
Further attributes we would like you to have:
- Recent post-graduate experience in a similar role (up to 18 months’ experience).
Responsibilities and Duties:
As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you will assist the structural engineering team with the design and management of key projects. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Defects Analysis of existing buildings and associated report writing
- Prepare drawings from engineer’s sketches
- Undertake elemental design calculations
- Prepare reinforcement detail drawings and bending schedules
- Carry out general administration and issuing of drawings
- Assist with on-site survey work
