The role
Working as part of a small melting team, the role of a Furnace Operative is essential within the Foundry. As the role is safety critical, we are only looking for experienced Furnace Operators at this time.
Responsibilities include
- Load furnace using tipper skips and overhead crane
- Weigh up and then add trim additions
- Slag off the furnace prior to tapping/pouring the metal
- Operate the furnace using hydraulic controls
- Monitor temperatures
- Repair spouts as required during production
Ideal Candidate
- Metal melting experience – ideally iron, but any metal and furnace type is acceptable
- Basic understanding of maths
- Overhead crane and FLT license would be ideal but not essential
- A willingness to work hard and a positive attitude
- The ability to work overtime on a regular basis, mainly during the week but occasional weekends
