About the role:
The role of a Specialist Study Skills Tutor is to assist students who have been awarded support for specific learning differences and those on the autism spectrum.
Study skills tutoring is a multi-faceted role that helps students develop skills that will help them not just through their higher education journey but that can be transferred to their daily lives and future career. Having students on a one-to-one basis means that this role is tailored to each student, and the form that sessions take may vary depending on the needs of each student.
As a specialist study skill tutor, it is essential to be able to create a rapport with the student to have a good understanding of their needs; this can be done by finding out what they are studying, what their interests and experiences are, to deepen your understanding of the student’s needs and design a learning plan that suits them.
