Job Summary/Purpose:
To ensure that the Food and Beverage Service and Events across Morden College sites is of the highest standard in terms of customer service and quality, with exceptional attention to detail and professionalism to enhance the dining experience.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- To supervise and co-ordinate a team of Hospitality Assistants, ensuring maximum efficiency, including rota management, processing timesheets, providing training and coaching of new and existing employees, managing annual leave, conducting regular one to one meetings as well as annual appraisal meetings
- To liaise with the Catering Manager, the Catering Supervisor and the Lead Bartender to ensure a smooth and successful delivery of food services and events
- To manage food and beverage provision for meetings, training and all events
- To ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and Morden College policies, procedures and standards, and to maintain appropriate records
- To manage invoices, stock orders and maintain a robust stock-control system
- To organise for the transport of staff and goods as appropriate
- To manage and oversee cleaning schedules for your areas of responsibility
- To develop and maintain documented Standards Manuals for food services and for events.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant professional qualifications including a current Level 2 Food Safety certificate
- Level 3 Food Safety Certificate or willingness to complete a Level 3 Food Safety training within three months of starting in the role)
- Previous experience of supervising staff acting in a team leader or supervisor capacity
- Proven ability to effectively lead, motivate, inspire and develop individuals and teams
- Proven ability to build positive working relationships, tackle and resolve issues in a pragmatic manner
- Experience of menu planning and food presentation development
- Ability to build strong work relationships and negotiating with suppliers
- Experience of cost based catering and stock control
- Flexibility to work weekends and evenings
- Experience to manage the financial aspects of the catering operations
- Have an understanding of Environmental Health and relative requirements (desirable)
- Developed IT skills, using Microsoft Office packages
- Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP regulations
- First Aid certificate (desirable)
- Environmental awareness (desirable)
- Developed interpersonal and leadership skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and remain level-headed during busy times
- Located within reasonable commutable distance to Morden College
