Job Title: Fire Door and Block Inspector
Location: Ashford, Kent
Salary: From £32,334 to £35,844 pa depending on skills and experience plus Lease car or cash alternative of £2,080 pa
Job Type: Full time, Permanent
Working Hours: 37 Hours Per Week
About The Role:
This role will play a crucial role in ensuring fire safety, compliance, and quality of housing blocks within the jurisdiction of the local authority. Working within the Ashford Borough Council’s Compliance Department, you will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, identifying potential hazards, and reporting on findings.
Key Responsibilities:
Primarily you will be responsible for conducting regular and systematic inspections of housing blocks to assess their condition, safety, and compliance with Fire Safety Regulations, building regulations and housing standards. You will need to prepare comprehensive reports for further action, reporting back to the line manager any deviation from any of the standards expected by the local authority along with:
- Assisting in the enforcement of relevant housing legislation, council regulations, and standards, taking appropriate actions to address non-compliance issues.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of inspections, noting any violations, defects, or areas of concern.
About you:
It is essential that you have fire door inspection qualifications such as BM TRADA ,City and Guilds or equivalent, knowledge of building design, construction, undertaking surveys, remedial repairs, and experience of carrying out inspections on day-to-day repairs within tenanted and void properties and also communal areas of housing blocks along with having:
- Experience of using a Schedule of Rates ordering system
- Familiar with using and working with client specifications
- Sound knowledge of CDM
- Detailed knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, processes, materials and legal matters
