Job Title: Financial Inclusion Officer
Location: East Suffolk Council – Based in either Lowestoft NR33 0EQ or Melton, Woodbridge, Suffolk IP12 1RT
Salary: £24,496 – £30,151 per annum (career grade)
Job Type: Fixed term for 2 years – 37 hours per week

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council’s Tenant Services Team as a Financial Inclusion Officer.
The role:
You will liaise and support new and existing tenants of East Suffolk who require advice and support in all tenancy related aspects of financial inclusion. This includes but is not limited to welfare advice, assistance in making and maintaining Universal Credit claims and signposting to budgeting advice funded by East Suffolk Council and delivered through the CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau). You will also develop and maintain a high level of personal contact through home visits, telephone calls and letters with tenants to maximise engagement and minimise rent arrears.
The Candidate:
You should have a proven track record of successful partnership working, a good understanding of welfare rights, key benefits and how they are accessed, and housing issues, as well as experience of dealing with the public in difficult and emotional situations to assist them accessing benefits and local and national support services.
