New Dawn Resources is assisting a company based in Preston looking to recruit a Financial Controller with a strong background in FMCG manufacturing. The company is a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business, which has been trading for over 50 years. They are a key player in the UK supplying some of the biggest and most progressive names in grocery, retail, and wholesale.
About the role:
The company is now looking to recruit a Financial Controller with a strong background in FMCG manufacturing, who will report directly to the Commercial Director. The successful candidate will hit the ground running and be able to take on the role with energy and strong technical ability. Good communication skills are vital due to the nature of the role and collaborative environment of the business.
This role does not offer hybrid work arrangement due to the managerial requirements of the position, leading and oversee the financial team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of 5 in all day-to-day accounting operations, including all Financial Ledgers, Payroll, Bank & Cash Reconciliation, WIP, VAT processing & returns etc.
- Prepare monthly Management Accounts and maintain an accurate P&L.
- Preparation and development of new systems, work practices and controls in conjunction with the Commercial Director.
- Support Operations/Engineering in the production of accurate Capital Expenditure proposals.
- Responsible for meeting reporting deadlines including HMRC, ONS, companies house, annual audit management and pension scheme reporting.
- Identifying and implement cost saving initiatives within finance and the wider business.
- Attend meetings and deliver a monthly board pack including sales performance, budgets and forecasting.
- Be an active member of the company’s leadership team and play a key role in shaping the day to day management and culture of the business.
The candidate must have skills and experiences in the following areas:
- Fully Qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
- Highly proficient in the Microsoft suite (Excel pivot tables, V-Lookups)
- Experience in the use of accounting systems
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in fast paced environment.
- Proven leadership skills in a large manufacturing operation with a multicultural workforce
- Proven track record of achieving results
- The skills to act as a mentor to develop financial awareness within other business functions and managers
- Proven ability to forecast requirements, analyse and understand variances
- A commercial outlook, familiar with profit Improvement plans
