The Holkham Estate comprises 25,000 acres in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) on the beautiful north Norfolk coast. At its centre, Holkham Hall is the family home of the Earl and Countess of Leicester and one of the ten Treasure Houses of England, with its grand interiors and remarkable art collections.
The Role:
Overview:
This is a new senior finance role for Holkham, in response to the substantial growth of Holkham’s diversified business activities over the last five years. The Finance Director will report directly to the Managing Director and join the board of the management company, Coke Estates Ltd. The Finance Director will provide senior leadership for Holkham’s decentralised finance function and will elevate the impact of financial management across the various businesses
Key Responsibilities:
The Finance Director will provide financial insight, challenge and decision-support for Holkham’s Managing Director and eight Business Directors/General Managers. This will be most clearly required in relation to Holkham’s rapidly expanding land and property business, as well as for capital investments into farming and for developing new visitor facilities.
The FD will work closely with the estate’s professional advisers and banks to ensure funding is matched to the estate’s requirements and to ensure tax efficiency is maintained across the estate’s structure of trusts, partnerships and limited companies.
Additionally, the FD will lead the development of an IT strategy for 2021-25 including financial systems and renewal of the architecture for five different core business systems as new opportunities emerge in cloud systems, digital reporting and efficiencies through technology.

A qualified chartered accountant who can combine a strategic perspective with effective interpersonal skills to carve out a new role, showing sensitivity to the existing team.
Sector experience in property or leisure businesses would be an advantage, this might have been gained in professional practice or in industry.
An energetic individual to join an ambitious, hard-working team. We want someone with the intellect and potential to grow fully into this demanding role over the next few years. This could be a first-time FD role for an ambitious candidate attracted to an organisation with phenomenal variety. Or it could be a very experienced FD attracted to work somewhere very special.

The role is envisaged as a full-time, permanent appointment with a salary to attract the best candidates. Salary will be dependent on experience. Relocation support available if required.
