Job description:
This is a newly created position working closely with the Finance Director at the centre of the Finance team, managing treasury, consolidation, financial accounts preparation and compliance. In addition this position will play a significant role in the implementation of a core new finance system for the estate.
Overall job purpose:
The role of Finance Business Partner for Coke Estates Ltd has been created as part of an expansion of Holkham’s finance function in response to significant growth in the Estate’s business activity. The successful candidate will report to the Finance Director and sit at the centre of the finance team, managing treasury, consolidation, financial accounts preparation and compliance. We are about to embark on a project to standardise the finance function across the Estate, the successful candidate will have a significant part to play in shaping processes across all areas of the business and for implementation of a new core finance system.
Once implemented the successful candidate will then be required to oversee the continuous monitoring and development of the system to ensure it is fit for purpose. The legal and financial structure of the Estate is complex, comprising Partnerships, limited companies and trusts dating back several generations. The successful candidate will have the overview of this structure and become fully familiar with each element, why it has been set up this way and how the accounting works between and across the different entities their accounts.
Skills and Experience:
- Qualified chartered accountant
- Excellent communication skills
- To be able to demonstrate being very well organised. The ability to effectively manage competing priorities and meet set deadlines
- Great attention to detail and accurate in all work undertaken
- Experience of business partnering, including Preparing, monitoring and managing budgets
- communicating financial information to all stakeholders
- Ability to influence and negotiate with both internal and external stakeholders
- The ability to establish a positive relationship between the finance team and the operational teams in the business
- Sector experience in property or leisure businesses would be an advantage, gained either in professional practice or in industry
Personal qualities:
- Qualified Accountant, and likely to be a graduate who qualified in professional practice
- Proven ability to understand and work with accounts from multiple businesses; experience of year-end reporting and working with audit teams
- Highly proficient with use of standard accounts package and Excel
- Experience of reviewing and re-designing finance processes
- Experience of implementation of finance systems
- Hard-working; manages multiple tasks to meet deadlines; works effectively both alongside Colleagues and independently; operates to high standards; instinctive integrity
