Job Title: Finance / Account Manager

About the role:
We are excited to be working with a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston to recruit a Finance / Account Manager. Gafoor is a key player in their sector operating on a national basis, supplying poultry products to a range of both leading blue-chip manufacturers and local retailers.
This is an exciting role within the Finance department of a fast-paced food manufacturer. Working closely with Head of Finance your role will primarily focus on the management of our farm accounts with contracts and transactions of circa 1.6 million per week. The successful candidate will not require experience of agriculture or farming.
You will need to be a self-motivated and confident individual who is able to quickly and effectively establish and maintain good relationships with our farm suppliers. It is also essential to have excellent English language skills, a keen eye of detail and strong commercial awareness.
In order to be considered for this role you will need to have had relevant prior experience, ideally within a similar manufacturing business. Candidates must be currently eligible to work in the UK, no sponsorship opportunities are available for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Code, process and file high volume of transactions related to farm suppliers
- Receive, record and resolve invoice / payment queries
- Assisting in the year end process
- Support statutory requirements including relevant tax filings, statutory accounts and VAT returns
- Maintain and enhance documentation of current business processes, financial controls and accounting policies
- Key contact for external farmers to resolve account matters.
- Support the Finance Manager and Commercial Director with the annual financial strategy and budgeting processes
- Lead and manage other ad-hoc and project-based work as required
- Deputising for the Head of Finance as required
Requirements:
- A recognised CCAB qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or ACA
- 5 years previous experience within a finance function managing accounts and producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines
- Sound understanding of UK financial systems and HMRC reporting
- Experience of supervising junior or less experienced members of a finance team
