Description of the role:
To support Astell Scientific customers in the use of their products via the various goods and services offered by the Astell Service Department covering the full range of autoclaves manufactured by the company.
The role will involve Routine Preventive Maintenance, fault finding and repair, installation of new products, commissioning, basic operator training, dismantle and removal of products being replaced as well as calibration and validation in accordance with UKAS17025 on a regular basis.
Knowledge Requirements:
The role should ideally be qualified to HNC, HND or Degree level in a mechanical/electrical engineering discipline, but suitable industry experience will also be considered.
Technical Skillset:
Experience and understanding of systems, drawings, theory and application of the following regarding Fault Finding, investigation and set-up (Corrective Action, Root Cause analysis and Preventive Actions):
- Pneumatics
- Electrical control systems
- Electrical power systems
- PLC system control
- Basic plumbing
- General mechanical engineering awareness.
In addition, understanding of, and experience in working with a QMS including ISO9001, ISO13465 and ISO17025.
Having an understanding of Autoclave performance, load types and cycles, with previous experience of validation / temperature mapping is a benefit. As well as an understanding of performance adjustments to overcome control system set-up errors (knowledge preferable, but training also provided).

Self-motivated with excellent customer service skills and possess the ability to work alone to a high standard.
Good communicator for all aspects of Customer Services with an ability to focus technical discussions to the desired level (feedback to the office and advice for the user).
To “champion” all aspects of the Service Department
Flexible approach to working hours. Extended periods away from home, UK & abroad will be necessary and expected.
A current driving licence with max 3 points is an essential requirement of this role.
General PC literacy including Internet / Emailing, data transfer between devices, Software use (including Microsoft Office).

Extra information:
The role will be covering the east of the UK, ideally based in the Cambridgeshire region, servicing this area as well as the surrounding counties. However, flexibility to support periods away from home for Installations / validation and other technical support should be expected across the UK. Travel abroad may also be necessary.
