Job Title: Facilities and Operations Assistant Manager
Location: Compton Verney, Stratford-upon-Avon
Salary: £29,000.00 per annum
Job type: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week. Two year, Fixed Term Contract
Compton Verney is an accredited art gallery and museum set in 120 acres of fabulous Georgian parkland, only eight miles from Stratford-upon-Avon.
We are a registered charity, with the aim of connecting people with Art, nature and creativity. We provide inspiring and entertaining days out for visitors of all ages and backgrounds – whether they have come to see our international art exhibitions, to take part in our wide- ranging activities or to enjoy our extensive landscape.
The role:
We’ve got exciting projects in the pipeline this role will assist the F&OM with Chiller replacement, solar photovoltaic installs, renewable heating systems, conservation building projects and new developments. This role will also work alongside the F&OM in developing our net zero project plan.

The Candidate:
- Ideally qualified or experienced in Facilities management
- A good general education with a relevant qualification aligned to Facilities Management, and a demonstrable record of continuous personal development within the industry
- Demonstrable success in a similar service environment and capable of delivering compliance in line with contract requirement
- Proven experience of establishing stakeholder relationships and achieving sustained operational success
- Ability to quickly build credible relationships with a management team and clients, and challenge when necessary
- A detailed operational understanding of utilities and lifecycle management
- Sound relationship, management and interpersonal skills
- Communication, influencing and negotiating skills
- The ability to work on own initiative and to drive improvement
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities (expected but not limited to):
Health and Safety
- Ensuring visitors are welcomed by staff and volunteers fully trained and aware of their responsibilities regarding both public and personal safety and wellbeing. Identifying training needs and organising accordingly
- Ensuring that CVHC fully complies with both the letter and intent of all applicable Health and Safety legislation, so far as is reasonably practicable
- Co-Chairing and maintaining a pro-active Health and Safety Committee, with representation from all departments, reporting to the Finance, Assets and Risk committee and Governors quarterly
- Ensuring awareness and compliance with legislation relating to Health and Safety at work and encouraging all staff and contractors to work in such a manner that accidents to themselves and others are avoided
Security
- Ensuring the security of the site, assets, artworks and people by setting up policies and procedures, monitoring regularly, identifying areas for improvement where necessary
- Supporting management of site security issues, including liaison with the Police Force, local authority representatives and neighbours
- Setting in place systems for the monitoring and control of unusual behavior by visitors
Fire and Disaster
- Supporting management of fire prevention and safety, including liaison with the local Fire Department and local authority representatives
- Supporting management of contract for provision of maintenance and repair of the fire control system and equipment
- Liaising with the remote monitoring company concerning emergency services response
- Review and update all policies and procedures relating to fire safety and evacuation
Operations, Building and Facilities Management
- Establish and train team of specialist volunteers to undertake routine checks to monitor and ensure operational compliance moving Compton Verney to ‘best practice’
- Manage storage of items and equipment onsite in a safe and sensible manner
- Ensure operational works, services, and equipment are delivered in a timely and cost efficient manner
- Manage and responsible for IT hardware and asset replacement
- Produce SLAs ensuring the contracted-out services such as building maintenance, engineering systems, cleaning and security functions are performed to output-based specifications set by CVHC
