Hours: 37 hours per week over a 4-day week, Monday to Thursday

The Role:
The Estimating Engineer (Composites & Metallics) is responsible for the logging and estimating of enquiries received within the business. You will be part of an experienced estimating team and will also be required to liaise with customers on relevant activities, compile bid proposals and submission of such for products and processes including, but not limited to:
Composites:
- Carbon Composites and Glass Fibre details and assemblies
- Understanding the detail of Composite lay-up and assembly
- Routing and 5-axis machining of Carbon Composites, Glass Fibre
- Surface Treatments
Metallics
- Flat and formed metallic details
- Metallic fabricated assemblies
- Metal to Metal bonding
- Routing and 5-axis machining of metallic components & details
- Protective Surface Treatments
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Operational output
- Interpretation of customer models, drawings, Bill of Materials and specifications including PowerPoint and schematic presentations/sketches as well as hard copy drawings
- Identification of the processes required for each quotation such as lay-up, curing, machining, fabrication, assembly and protective treatments to enable accurate cost compilation
- Understand the process of Composite manufacturing from freezer to delivery
- Ensure the customer requirements are fully understood and the most cost-effective solution is quoted.
- Liaison with suppliers to ascertain prices
- Liaison with customers to clarify any details where necessary
- Preparation of accurate costs in terms of materials, labour etc.
- Ensure all enquiries and quotations produced are entered correctly into the computer system
Health, safety and environment
- Uphold processes that assure the effective health, safety and environmental best practices as defined by the Brookhouse HSE management system
The Candidate:
- Experience of Estimating within an aerospace manufacturing environment with Engineering trade qualification at HNC level or equivalent desirable
- Understand ply books, ply data and final composite drawing detail
- Conversant with a wide range of Composite processes
- Understand the difference between low-volume and high-volume strategies
- Ability to understand & extract key information from engineering drawings & Bills of Material from multiple customers
- Ability to manipulate arithmetic data with a high degree of accuracy in time-limited situations
- Computer literate and experienced in MS Office to a high standard including Excel
- Enthusiastic, proactive & organised
