Job Title: Engineering Project Manager (Food Manufacturing)

Gafoor is a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston. They are a key player in their sector supplying poultry products to leading blue chip manufacturers nationally.
About the Role:
Gafoor is looking for an experienced engineering project manager / consultant to oversee various projects on site. Offering strategic solutions and a continuous improvement agenda, the successful applicant will ensure programmes are implemented and taken through to delivery.
The operation involves live intake through to distribution of finished and packed product from the company’s manufacturing site, employing circa 400 team members. The successful candidate will require a flexible approach to their working hours in order to oversee and provide direction for engineers working on a range of shift patterns including nights and weekends.
The overall focus of the role will be the development of engineering systems and creation of a best-in-class preventative maintenance culture. Working with the cross functional management team, the position will also contribute to the development and implementation of organisational strategies, policies and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively lead and participate in lean manufacturing improvements, digitisation of processes and site continuous improvement plans
- Strategic support to day-to-day operations where required
- Completion of projects through delivery, ensuring budget & quality are delivered on time
- Develop a KPI dashboard and measure the effectiveness of maintenance activities; revise and improve where required
- Establish a culture of planned and predictive maintenance
- Support and implement change processes in line with business developments and opportunities
- Ensure H&S requirements are adhered to throughout
- Be an active member of the company’s leadership team and play a key role in shaping the day to day management and culture of the wider team
About you:
The successful Project Manager will need to have the following attributes:
- Knowledge of best practise engineering in the food manufacturing industry, preferable meat / poultry
- Working experience in Industrial, Mechanical, Process Engineering
- Experience as Project Manager
- A track record in implementing a preventative maintenance and continuous improvement culture
- Data-driven with a pro-active approach to problem solving
- Proven Strategic thinker, problem solver
- T / computer skills, MS Office / Outlook / MS Projects
- Hybrid working available where necessary
- Knowledge managing OEE
- Proven leadership skills in a large manufacturing operation with a multicultural workforce
- Experience of operating within a BRC accredited environment
