Job Title: Engineering Manager – (Aerospace/ Manufacturing)
Location: India Mill, Darwen
Salary: £60,000-£70,000 with £6,000 car allowance + BUPA Medical Insurance.
Job type: Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week over a 4-day week, Monday to Thursday.

The role:
We are currently looking for a highly experienced Engineering Manager with at least five years of working experience within an aerospace/manufacturing environment.
The Engineering Manager sits on the Senior Management Team with accountability for the engineering function and NPI consisting of Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers and Technical Apprentices, ensuring that the governance structures and processes are both in place and adhered to cross-functionally.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Alongside the Quality Director, act as the technical authority within the business, ensuring all regulatory and internal processes are adhered to at all times
- Establish a strategy and best practices for staff to achieve overall business objectives. Work with the Engineering team to translate site strategy into specific annual performance goals and departmental objectives, including KPIs, and track them via regular performance reviews
- Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
- Ensure any new equipment or engineering activity is supported with appropriate qualification documentation and that this is appropriately stored. Ensure up-to-date drawings are adequately maintained
- Support project management to cross-functional activity required for project execution
- Provide leadership to departments under control and coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high-performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions
- Ensure strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate information exchange and implement change and improvements
- Prepare the annual Engineering budget and forecasts, support all Capital Expenditure proposals, and ensure compliance with customer and legal requirements
- Work with the rest of the leadership team to decide which engineering projects are the highest priority against the business targets and which can be executed with the available resource
- Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the engineering strategy
- Communicate with stakeholders the impact of market and technology change and potential effects on engineering Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on engineering activities
The Candidate:
- The ability to work with numbers and apply mathematical skills/knowledge
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities and implement plans and strategies based on those outputs
- Strong ability to develop and lead people at all levels of the organisation. Excellent interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with a proactive attitude, tenacious with the ability to influence across all levels within the business

- Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline

- Minimum of 5 years of proven senior Engineering leadership within a global manufacturing business
Working pattern:
4-day week Monday to Thursday 07:15 am to 5:00 pm totaling 37 hours weekly
