Job Title: Embedded Systems Engineer – ARM and Android
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 per annum, depending on experience
Position: Full Time, Permanent (9:00 – 5:30, Monday – Friday)

They are looking for a hardware systems engineer with a keen interest in modern networked technology to join their growing team.
As an Embedded hardware systems engineer, you will play an influential role in building and optimising their current products and the development of their new products that have a global footprint around the world.
In order to help them take advantage of global opportunities, they are looking for an experienced hardware systems engineer to evaluate new hardware, further develop their existing hardware and software platforms, and contribute to their software integrations and roadmap.

Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluating new hardware devices, including touchscreen kiosks running Android network connected wearables, connected peripherals, facial recognition cameras, and more
- Making recommendations on how to proceed with hardware products based on certain hardware technologies and plan the integration with the technical team
- Ensuring smooth integration of new technologies into their existing portfolio
- Working with the management team to prioritise which products to take to market
- Researching, testing and implementing integrations with existing and new technologies to strengthen their existing product portfolio and ensure their organisation is a market leader in the industry
Key Requirements:
Essential
- U-boot, Linux kernel, Android BSP development
- Android bootloader & firmware customisation
- Serial port communication experience
- Experience with one or more communication protocols and devices such as Bluetooth, ZigBee, MQTT, LoRaWAN, NFC, RFID(via serial port), Wiegand, access control boards, etc.
Desirable
- Android application software development
- Experience of rapid prototyping of electronic hardware
- Experience of facial recognition technologies with detection-based camera systems
- Ability to communicate with technical teams in English and Mandarin
- A strong portfolio which demonstrates versatility with working on the above
