Job Title: Electrical Estimator
Location: Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire

The Company, a nationwide M&E design and build contractor, are currently looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their team. It’s a well-established company, currently in their 29th year of trading, focusing primarily on retail, education, industrial & commercial.
The Role
- Understand and scrutinise project specifications and drawings
- Carry out site visits and surveys
- Attend client and consultant meetings
- Measurement and take offs for materials, labour, plant and preliminaries
- Complete tenders within required timescales ensuring deadlines are met
- Assisting the project team with costing variations
- Identify tender qualifications and exclusions
- Produce value engineering solutions
- Liaise with the mechanical department when submitting M&E tenders
- Understand and scrutinise sub-contract quotations
- Recognise and report project risk and opportunity
The Candidate:
Skills and Qualities
- At least two years’ experience as an electrical estimator and/or qualified electrician
- Experience building strong customer and consultant relationships
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent numeracy skills
- Flexibility to travel between customer and consultant sites
- Honesty and integrity
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work to a deadline
- Awareness and knowledge of H&S / CDM Regulations & requirements (desirable)
- Working knowledge of SEC Cyper estimating package or similar (desirable)
Training and Qualifications
- Full clean driving licence
- Awareness of, or trained on the 18th edition of the Electrical Wiring Regulations – BS7671
- Any training in electrical engineering (desirable)
- HNC in electrical engineering or NVQ Level 3 or Level 4 in electrotechnical services or similar (desirable)
- GCSE maths and English (desirable)
- Awareness of, or trained on BS5266 – Emergency lighting (desirable)
- Awareness of, or trained on BS5839 – Fire detection and fire alarm systems (desirable)
