Job Title: Design Engineer

Location: Milton Keynes

Salary: £33,000 – £38,000 per annum

Job type: Permanent, Full time 40 hours per week – some evening and weekend work may be required

About us:

We work with some World-famous brands, the majority of which are in the Motorsport industry however, we also supply products into the Aerospace, MOD and Marine industries so as you can imagine quality is of the utmost importance. We have a specially kitted out workshop, one that you would be proud to work in which is located conveniently just on the outskirts of Milton Keynes centre. We are recruiting for lots of new team members due to huge growth within our order books.

Job Purpose:

To convert customer requirements into high-quality manufacturing documentation with the use of CAD, PLM and MRP software, creating concepts and realising these into manufactured solutions.

The Job

As a Design Engineer, you will be expected to work efficiently and effectively with the Design team, managing multiple projects and prioritising workloads.

Main Duties:

  • Required to document designs and systems throughout the production lifecycle to ensure customer’s requirements are met and follow company standards.
  • Apply engineering principles and conduct design calculations in order to develop robust and compliant system design.
  • Produce high-quality designs, with accurate models, digital representations, drawings and information for the Operations department to follow.
  • Creation of fit check card models, to ensure accuracy of design and understanding of fuel cell construction.
  • Develop job knowledge in all areas of Fuel Cell, Systems and Component Design, and continually progress their engineering capabilities.
  • Required to reverse engineer existing designs to develop the concept and production intent of new designs.
  • Use environmentally sustainable practices in accordance with our environmental policy.
  • Seek ways to reduce waste and energy usage in accordance with our environmental objectives.

The Person and Skills Required:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2:2 Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline e.g. mechanical, electrical or fluid systems.

Experience:

  • One year of relevant professional or academic experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with ISO9001 QMS, customer/supplier liaison, generating technical bulletins, and stakeholder relationship management are all desirable but not essential.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to extract information from data sheets.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • High Standard in MS suite.
