Heat Trace is a manufacturing and engineering company with our headquarters and main manufacturing unit in Helsby Cheshire, with a further two manufacturing facilities at Bredbury, Stockport.
The prime activity of the business is the manufacture of highly technical heating cables for use predominantly in the oil and gas and advanced processing industries.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will perform detailed design drawings of an electric heat tracing system for projects worldwide for various energy, chemical and engineering and construction companies with projects in oil and gas plants, refineries, pipelines, and other specialty engineering and construction projects.
In this position, you will work closely with the Proposals Manager to analyse customer drawings, specifications, and project requirements to design an electric heating system that meets the contract requirements.
You shall provide both Technical and Commercial support as necessary to those Engineers during preparation of their proposals and understanding of specifications and drawings provided. A detailed technical proposal will be created to present to the customer.
The Design Engineer will learn to create project deliverables such as Heat Trace Isometrics, control panel schedules, and instrument schedules executed to meet our customers contracts.
If the contract is awarded to Heat Trace, the Design Engineer will be asked to support the Project Manager, reporting on the progress of the project, tracking changes and potentially attending regular Project Meetings.
About you:
Required Skills
- Computer literate – proficient in a wide variety of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Access)
- Be a self-starter/self-motivated, detail oriented and a good communicator both written and oral
- Will particularly suit someone who enjoys getting hands on experience
Preferred Skills
- Experienced in AutoCAD 2D
- Technical understanding of Ohm’s Law, and electrical properties
- Display an understanding of physical properties such as temperature, length, voltage, current
- Able to develop relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, etc.
- Travel may be required to project sites or fabrication facilities either UK based or International
- Display positive energy, accountability, and a strong work ethic
