Bruton Knowles LLP is an independently owned Chartered Surveying practice who provide a comprehensive range of surveying and property services.
The Position:
This is a newly created permanent role which will be integral in providing data engineering/analysis expertise which encompasses large data sets. This, in turn, will support the delivery of an efficient and cost- effective service to clients. The initial area of focus will be data mapping and migration using manual and automated date ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) procedures.
Main Responsibilities, Tasks and Key Duties:
You will be required to gain in-depth understanding of the various systems and data sets and then undertake an analysis of that data.
As the Data Engineer, you will work closely with the Senior Business Analyst and other professionals, data analysing, mapping and migration. As the role evolves you will be assigned to other projects where your skills will be utilised.
- Provide data engineering/analysis expertise;
- Data mapping and migration using manual and automated data ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) procedures;
- Be accountable for data quality, integrity and security;
- Use recognised methods and data modelling practices;
- Utilise skills by getting involved with company-wide projects;
- Evaluate risk and issues;
- Capture solutions to the challenges that arise;
- Ensure compliance with regulations as appropriate including GDPR.
The Candidate:
- The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years’ experience in a similar role and be able to provide demonstrable experience of data engineering and analysis.
- A related Degree will be desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven data engineering experience;
- Data analysis skills;
- Experience in Relational Database systems, SQL, Excel, ODBC, Microsoft SQL Server Studio, report writing/data mining;
- Attention to detail;
- GDPR and IT risk awareness;
- Ability to liaise with internal and external clients to promote and deliver high quality input into their projects;
- Able to work on their own and with wider project stakeholders;
- Have good problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English;
- Be adaptable and flexible;
- Excellent time management;
- Ability to work independently as well as in an interdisciplinary team.
Desirable Criteria:
- Relational database design, ETL tools such as Microsoft DTS (Data Transformation Services) or IBM Datastage, Power BI, report writing, requirements elicitation.
- Experience in the property sector would be an advantage.
