Job Title: Data Analyst

Location: Salford Quays, Greater Manchester

Salary: £35,392 – £42,618 Negotiable depending on experience

Job type: Full time – 12 months contract with possibility of making the role permanent

The National Haemophilia Database (NHD) is a registry of people in the UK with all types of bleeding disorders. The database is held within the NHS and managed by the UK Haemophilia Centre Doctors’ Organisation (UKHCDO). The NHD is at a transformation stage in its development and requires insight professionals to harness the wealth of data that is available to it.

The Role:

We have an exciting full-time opportunity available for a promising Data Analyst at the National Haemophilia Database (NHD), to play a key role in the analysis of data across its full lifecycle, from the collection of data through to the point of data exploitation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Gather, clean, and validate healthcare data from various sources, including electronic health records and administrative databases.
  • Analyse and interpret data using statistical techniques and tools to identify trends, patterns, and insights related to patient outcomes, treatment efficacy, and healthcare processes.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, visualisations, and reports to present data findings in a clear and understandable manner to healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and other healthcare professionals to understand data requirements and provide data-driven insights to support their projects and initiatives.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses and respond to data queries from internal and external stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor data quality and identify any data discrepancies or anomalies, taking appropriate actions to rectify and improve data integrity.
  • Participate in research projects and contribute to publications and presentations related to healthcare data analysis and research findings.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in healthcare data analytics, data science, and related technologies to continuously enhance analytical capabilities.
  • Be self-directed, responsible for certain key projects, stand in and deputize when needed.
  • To carry out other relevant duties as required by the NHD team.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst in the healthcare industry, preferably within the NHS or a similar healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as SQL, Knime, Python, or R
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology, procedures, and regulations is advantageous
