The role
We have opportunities for an experienced Chef who is a hard-working, conscientious individual to join our busy kitchen team in one of our residential care facilities – Drummonds – for adults with physical and/or learning disabilities.
Candidates must be comfortable leading a team of Kitchen Assistants, should be prepared to undertake all the relevant tasks to provide meals including Breakfast, Lunch, afternoon break and Supper, not to mention the extras and special event catering. As a result, this post offers a variety of duties with the reward of satisfied residents and staff!
Ideal Candidate
- Experience promoting a high standard of food hygiene and cleanliness within a working environment.
- Experience in meeting requirements set out by the Environment Health and Local Authority for the Home, the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2005.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement and review standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
- Pro-actively maintain all kitchen equipment as per manufactures guidelines and report all faults to the Manager.
- Prepare food in accordance with menu specifications and monitor food cooking and presentation standards.
- Ensure the Company’s stock and order system is followed on a weekly basis to avoid over/under stocking of food items.
- Ensure an adequate system is in place to check all food deliveries are correct and of good quality and that all deliveries are temperature probed, recorded, stored correctly and stock rotated.
- To maintain a well-balanced nutritious diet taking into consideration special dietary needs and requirements as set out in Residents Care Plans.
- To take Resident’s menu choices on a daily basis from the planned menus using the correct Company’s menu choice form.
