Key Duties & Responsibilities:
To design control systems for smoke ventilation control panels, this will involve electrical wiring design and programming of industrial programmable logic controllers (PLC’s).
Predominantly office based with occasional site visits to at customer sites for commissioning of systems. Operating in a small team, you’ll be the centre point of technical support with project managers and installers.
Within the role your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Conceptual design, development, prototyping and testing of firmware for new electronic control products
- Translation of customer specification into designs for electronic and control products.
- Continuous improvement of existing products
- Provision of technical support for both internal and external customers on both new and existing products
- Liaison with suppliers on technical aspects of integration of new products into product range
- Compile technical information for technical updates, CE files and product installation and operating manuals
The Candidate:
Minimum HNC qualified electrically bias Engineer preferably with a background working in the building services, industrial automation or commercial industry. This is an ideal position for recent graduates with over 1 years’ experience in the field.
Essential:
- Control System Design (Electrical circuit design & calculations).
- AutoCAD LT Drafting (Mechanical, Equipment Layout, Circuit Diagrams, Drawing Standards & Document Control).
- Compiling Items Lists (Using Microsoft Excel).
- PLC & HMI Programming (Industry Standard Ladder Programming & HMI Animated Graphical Representation Programming).
- Good communicator and self-motivated.
- Knowledge of microcontrollers and peripheral components
- Good understanding of electronics
- Defining & specifying product requirements
Desirable:
- Control Panel Testing for bespoke projects.
- Providing remote support for Commissioning Engineers.
- Occasional Site Commissioning.
- Experience with Schneider PLS’s, HMI’s and VSD’s would be helpful but not essential.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- GCSE English & Maths at grades C (or 5) and above
- HNC / HND in Building Related Studies, or Business Studies (or of technical equivalence)
