Job Title: Connected Working Lead Coach
Location: Walsall
Salary: £37,890 – £42,821 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Closing date: 19th September 2021
We’re in the process of creating a new and exciting team, delivering an established method of performance improvement across our council’s services.
What is Connected Working?
Connected Working improves the effectiveness of teams. Using a well-defined methodology, teams are coached to adopt new methods of communication and new ways of working to identify and resolve problems. This results in engaged and empowered staff that are motivated and productive.
There are two main activities for the Connected Working team:
- A detailed diagnostic report is produced that examines how the teams are structured and how “business as usual” is approached. This is a strategic report, to be reviewed by executive managers.
- Coaching teams in how to use the Connected Working methodology. The team works closely with the managers, supporting them in cascading the training to their teams. The coaches also facilitate problem-solving and development of good practice; they are therefore encouraged to learn about the services that are being delivered and to integrate within the team as much as possible.
The Role:
The lead coach will be expected to work closely with the director and head of service to challenge existing working practices, encourage innovation, monitor and review progress and agree and drive forward appropriate interventions. The lead coach sets the direction of the team and is responsible for the messaging and quality assurance of the reports that the team produces.
All coaches must be capable of delivering training to management teams both remotely and in person. Every team member will work closely with at least one manager (and often more), coaching them in cascading the training and methodology to their teams and facilitating team problem-solving and developing best practice.
About you:
We’re looking for someone that understands management good practice, is an excellent communicator and is able to get the best out of people at all levels of the organisation. An understanding of change management is essential.
You must be able to analyse and report on the improvements that have been made in terms of capacity released, evidence of improved working and actual cost savings.
Good Microsoft Office skills would be an advantage as you will be frequently using PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Training in Connected Working methodology will be provided.
This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The postholder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
