Job Title: Connected Working Coach
Location: Walsall
Salary: £27,041 – £31,346 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Closing date: 19th September 2021
We’re in the process of creating a new and exciting team, delivering an established method of performance improvement across our council’s services.
What is Connected Working?
Connected Working improves the effectiveness of teams. Using a well-defined methodology, teams are coached to adopt new methods of communication and new ways of working to identify and resolve problems. This results in engaged and empowered staff that are motivated and productive.
There are two main activities for the Connected Working team:
- A detailed diagnostic report is produced that examines how the teams are structured and how “business as usual” is approached. This is a strategic report, to be reviewed by executive managers.
- Coaching teams in how to use the Connected Working methodology. The team works closely with the managers, supporting them in cascading the training to their teams. The coaches also facilitate problem-solving and development of good practice; they are therefore encouraged to learn about the services that are being delivered and to integrate within the team as much as possible.
The Role:
The coach will be expected to work closely with the team managers, supporting them in developing teams that communicate well, participate in problem-solving and share their workloads.
About you:
We’re looking for someone that understands management good practice, is an excellent communicator and is able to get the best out of people at all levels of the organisation.
We want somebody that is capable of keeping everyone engaged in the process and dealing with any concerns they might have. You need emotional intelligence to be able to provide honest feedback and the integrity to recognise the boundaries between coaching staff and directing their actions.
Good Microsoft Office skills would be an advantage as you will be frequently using PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Training in Connected Working methodology will be provided.
This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The postholder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
