Job Title: Company Accountant

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience

The Role
They’re currently seeking an experienced commercial accountant to be based at the Brighouse Head Office in West Yorkshire to work Monday to Friday for 7.5 hours each day but also to be flexible when required.
You’ll take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and control of all areas of the company’s finances. You’ll also be key in driving performance by example and motivation against set targets whilst displaying a high level of business acumen.
Key Duties:
- Reporting to the Managing Director, you will assist and advise other fellow members of the Senior Management Team in all financial matters
- Prepare & maintain timely & accurate financial information on which business decisions can be made and be very proactive in suggesting new approaches and ways to improve all areas of the business
- Lead the drive to achieve increased efficiencies and profitability across all areas. Identify problems back to their root cause and resolve them
- Review costs and profitability of each product group and present reports on findings
- Supervision and on the job training of the one Finance Assistant
- Provide timely and accurate monthly management accounts for the MD and Chair, including P&L analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, cashflow forecasting, recommendations and commentaries. Presenting the results at Senior Management Team meetings
- Assume a lead role in the production of the annual budget, presentation of it and monthly reporting against it
- Hands on production, maintenance and control of the monthly payroll using Sage including all workplace pension matters
- Manage and control the cashflow effectively at all times
- Responsible for all dealings with and returns to HMRC, the bank and other external parties, especially the company’s external accountants
- Responsible for the company’s clocking-in system and all controls arising from it – Payroll inputs, Holiday entitlement controls, company attendance records
- Need to quickly master the company’s ERP system, Blindata, the leading industry-wide software program from which many of the company’s financial control reports originate in addition to the daily sales invoicing runs
About you:
- CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified
- Excellent Excel experience to an advanced level
- Fully experienced in Sage 50 Accounting and Sage Payroll software
- Commercial, operational outlook
- Evidence of a proactive approach to work and people management
- Positive outlook and approach with a proven ability to motivate and engage others
- Organised and methodical approach to a working environment
- Proven experience of setting up accounting processes and procedures
- Able to see beyond the numbers to identify what is driving them
- Systems development or installation experience would be extremely beneficial
