The Role:
South Wales Police are seeking to appoint a full time Senior Commercial Solicitor within its Joint Legal Services team. The purpose of the role is to assist in providing a comprehensive legal service to the Chief Constables and the Police and Crime Commissioners for South Wales and Gwent Police. This will include advising and drafting on often complex commercial agreements, from public procurement contracts to collaboration agreements with other public sector organisations and advising on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters as they affect the both Forces and/or the Commissioners.
Joint Legal Services is a Collaborative team, supporting both South Wales and Gwent Police and covers a breadth of legal areas covering employment, operations, litigation and corporate law issues that affect policing.
Requirements:
Qualifications (Essential):
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister – with a current practicing certificate (and a minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience)
Skills (Essential):
- Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications
- Have excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating ability to be personally credible
- Able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop others within the team
- Have the ability to carry a complex and varied case load
- Must be agile and flexible and able to work in ambiguous and fluid situations
- Must be energetic, highly self-motivated, have personal resilience and be assertive
- Have excellent verbal, drafting, written and communications skills
- Be able to demonstrate:

- Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of relevant commercial legislation and case law
