Job Title: Commercial Operations Manager
Location: Remote / Regular visits to Pathology First
Salary: Up to £51,000 per annum
Job type: Full-Time, Contract – 12 Months
About the role:
This is a 12 months assignment for a Commercial Operations Manager to join the SYNLAB Hospital Business. The role reports to the Commercial Operations Lead and provides commercial operations support across our key NHS Joint-Venture laboratory groups across the UK.
The post provides vital commercial and operational defence to the business, push back on price increases, managing commercial contracts and supplier performance.
Other duties include:
- Ensure value for money and achieve cost savings where possible across, and between, the respective business
- Obtain goods and services for optimal price and value
- Negotiate supply contracts on terms advantageous to the respective businesses and SYNLAB UK
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure swift resolution of issues as they arise
- Build strong working relationships between laboratory management/staff and suppliers
About you:
Essential:
- Experience of negotiating commercial supplier contracts and resolving commercial problems
- Strong tender document preparation and general writing abilities
- Strong commercial awareness and financial capability
- Problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to continuously meet deadlines
- Confidence in speaking to suppliers and colleagues
- A high degree of independence, flexibility and energy with a pragmatic down to earth approach
- A desire to be part of a growing business
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Desirable:
- Working towards or achievement of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) professional designation
- Knowledge of NHS Procurement Framework
- Experience working with NHS and/or private sector human health providers and Non-Health Laboratories
- Experienced in category management approach to procurement, across multiple disciplines and business units
