Job Title: Clinical Lead Nurse

Location: Christchurch, BH23 2UG

Salary: £52,000 – £55,000 per year

Job type: Full Time, Permanent role. 40 hours per week

  • Reporting to the Home Manager, assist in managing the delivery of a quality and comprehensive care, nursing and dementia services.
  • The Clinical Lead Nurse will be a NMC registered nurse with relevant post-registration experience. They will have prior management experience of clinical staff.
  • Lead the nursing and care team, through supernumerary and practice hours.
  • Be a highly performing role model and an inspiring leader by adopting and leading a culture that endorses the Home’s values and ethos.
  • Act as Clinical Lead for the Home, taking responsibility for the oversight of clinical risk and directing the team to take appropriate action to reduce and minimise risk.
  • Lead our Champion program, inspiring our staff to continually improve outcomes for our residents. Have a passion for promoting best nursing practice and able to train, support and mentor others.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring the team work within the same, and taking action to address any performance issues.
  • You will be expected to promote independence and dignity, while also enhancing the lives of those in our care

Main Duties

Leadership and Communication

  • Take part in the on-call management rota as required.
  • Responsible for keeping personal skills and knowledge up-to-date.
  • Lead on MDT/CHC reviews

People Management

  • Deliver on the job clinical training to staff teams
  • Assist and advise on the effective deployment of clinical staff to meet the changing needs of the home and our residents
  • Line-manage Registered Nurses and Nursing Associates.
  • Assist Home Manager in the recruitment of clinical staff.
  • Identify any gaps in clinical knowledge and advise on the clinical training required to ensure residents nursing needs are met.
  • Ensure that clinical staff are competent to deliver high quality nursing care.
  • Lead on the investigation of clinical concerns, incidents and events.

Clinical Nursing and Care Duties

  • Deliver high quality, evidence based clinical and holistic care
  • Lead the assessment of prospective residents’ needs and ensure appropriate care plans and risk assessments are completed as per protocol.
  • Responsibility for ensuring resident care reviews are held.
  • Responsible for ensuring care plans and resident records are up-to-date and reflect residents’ current needs.
  • Lead on medication management for the Home
  • Lead on complex clinical care needs.

Governance

  • Practice within the guidance and legal framework of CQC Regulations and the Fundamental Standards.
  • Reporting in line with regulatory requirements including the Local Authority; Safeguarding; CQC and RIDDOR related to clinical/nursing events.
  • Work within and in accordance with the Home’s Quality and Clinical Governance Framework

Statutory Responsibilities

  • To ensure you and all staff take reasonable care of their own and other people’s health and safety whilst at work.
  • To ensure you and all staff attend and follow training provided by the organisation to maintain good health and safety standards, and you and all staff are familiar with relevant policies and procedures
  • To ensure all staff report accidents, incidents and unsafe practices to the appropriate person.
  • To attend and maintain your continued professional development.
