Job Title: Centre Practice Development Nurse

Location: Llandudno – Wales

Salary: £37,637 per annum

Job type: 37.5 hours per week

Monday – Friday with flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as required

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a self-motivated Registered Nurse who is passionate about developing the skills and knowledge of care staff to deliver and promote person centered care. If you are committed to delivering and maintaining high standards of practice, this could be an ideal opportunity for you.
This role will be based at our Centre in Llandudno. You’ll give hands on coaching and support to our Care team’s education programmes to support both Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants in delivering consistently high-quality clinical care, ensuring that clinical practice delivery is continually monitored, reviewed and updated in line with regulatory requirements and best practice. You’ll also monitor, review and develop our clinical policies and procedures and develop and implement systems to monitor and audit practice throughout the Charity.

The Role:

To provide training and support to care staff and other staff in order to ensure that clinical practice delivery is continually monitored and reviewed, and staff skills are maintained and updated and are in line with regulatory requirements for professional and personal development.

  • Deliver clinical skills training to all care staff and other staff within Blind Veterans UK Centre when required to ensure high level of service for members.
  • Deliver training on equipment used includes all medical equipment, hoisting equipment, computers, hospital beds, blood monitoring and measuring equipment.
  • The post is based at Llandudno may require travel to other locations within the UK.
  • There is a requirement to monitor, review and develop clinical policies and procedures as instructed by the Care Manager to ensure best practice and to protect the charity against litigation as a result of malpractice.
  • Deliver all aspects of the corporate induction that are care related.
  • Act as an effective role model for best practice incorporating clinical teaching, audit and governance.
  • Support the Registered Care Manager to develop the knowledge and skills of the care staff to deliver, and promote, person centred care using the Model of Clinical Excellence to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Work with Learning and Development and the PDN in Brighton to help in the design and delivery of all clinical skills training across the organisation which meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Continuing Professional Practice (CPP) and other legislative requirements and the Charity’s policies and procedures.

The Candidate:

  • Knowledge of and experience in working with the Care Standards Act
  • Knowledge and experience in working with CQC or CIW standards
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills with computer literacy/IT
  • Presentation and teaching skills
  • Proactive communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective relationships
  • Reflective practitioner
  • Ability to challenge poor practice/performance
  • Ability to motivate/inspire/encourage others and use initiative
  • Flexible and self-motivated with ability to work autonomously
  • Good research skills
  • Able to implement and manage change
  • Ability to objectively undertake audits and present results.
  • RGN Qualification
  • Practice Educator qualification or equivalent or willing to work towards
  • Teaching/Training qualification (CTP or equivalent) or willing to undertake training to obtain
  • Member of a professional body
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Relevant teaching experience in a Nursing environment
  • Experience in writing policies and procedures
  • Experience in teaching, mentoring and assessment; qualified to act as mentor
  • Leadership & Management experience within a healthcare setting
  • Experience of design, delivery and evaluation of clinical training programs
