Job Title: Catering Supervisor

The College is currently seeking a professional and experienced Catering Supervisor to join their excellent team.
The Role:
This is a hands-on role working directly with three cohorts, the post holder will assist the Assistant Catering Managers in improving and maintaining the standard of delivery and service; while aiming to exceeding the agreed customer satisfaction targets in all areas.
Responsibilities Include:
- Liaising closely with the other Food and Beverage Supervisors to ensure an effective front of house operation
- Ensure smooth delivery of services throughout the entire College including Hall, Cafeteria, Conference and West Court
- Undertake Duty Manager shift’s, ensuring the highest level of customer service is delivered from guest arrival through to departure
- Planning and organising all staff, ensuring that all services are covered effectively
- Facilitating the setup, running and clear down of functions across the college site
- Ensuring that all cleaning duties are carried out to the highest standard
- Maintaining all records as determined by the Assistant Catering Managers
- Ensuring that all staff, including casual and agency staff, are aware of their responsibilities in maintaining the highest level of service standards
- Delivering and maintaining comprehensive training in line with the department Training Matrix
- Identifying individual staff training needs and making appropriate recommendations to address these needs to the Assistant Catering Managers.
- Undertaking performance management responsibilities (including the setting of performance objectives and performance reviews) in tandem with the other Food and Beverage Supervisors
Key Requirements:
Essential
- Good standard of general education to GSCE level or equivalent
- Good understanding of current Food Safety and relevant Health & Safety legislation
- Relevant previous catering experience working within a customer focussed, commercial food and beverage operation
- Experience in high standards of customer care
- Proven experience of supervising functions and events
- Some previous experience of supervising a small team of staff
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Clear and confident communication skills and able to communicate with diverse people at all levels
- Proven experience effectively motivating and leading a team
- Effective planning, organisational and delegation skills
- Excellent customer service skills and problem resolution
- Friendly and approachable
- Confident and assertive
- Has an ambition to develop a successful career within the hospitality industry
- Reliable and flexible with a friendly and outgoing personality
- Unflappable during busy periods and when faced with challenging situations
- Flexible approach to work and tasks (including shift patterns)
- Professionally and smartly presented
Own transport is essential due to some shifts ending past the time when the public transport system finishes in evenings and at weekends.

Periods of leave should be taken during the vacation periods and during the Christmas closure period. All periods of leave must be approved in advance with the Operations Manager and the Manciple.
