About the role:
Our Caretakers play a pivotal role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety and functionality of the college premises. From monitoring security to conducting minor repairs and assisting with events, our Caretakers contribute significantly to creating a welcoming and conducive environment for students, staff and visitors.
You will liaise closely and provide support to the Site Supervisor & Head of Facilities to ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day running, presentation, and management of the college campus, ensuring a warm, clean, safe, and secure environment for all students, staff, and visitors.To carry out campus maintenance and repairs as directed by the Site Supervisor ensuring these. Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with the relevant Health and Safety legislation and to handle the day-to-day issues related to such works. Be conversant with the Health and Safety policies relevant to the post including those relating to manual handling, working from height, control of legionella’s and fire safety.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To ensure that all work undertaken is carried out in accordance with all College Health & Safety requirements
- To carry out unlocking, locking and security checks, keeping keys and records of keys issued in accordance for the college safe working procedure
- To carry out repairs and decoration to an acceptable standard
- Detect and report building defects to the caretaker supervisor and/or head of facilities
- The routine testing and recording requirements of emergency lights, fire alarms, ladders and steps, working at height systems, water services, fire doors, emergency exits and any other compliance-based checks
- To assist the security warden if required, to ensure the security of the building and occupants
The Candidate:
- Driving license required
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Evidence of commitment to professional development
- A good standard of Maths and English
- Good organisational skills
