Job Title: Careers and Aspirations Specialist

Location: Solihull B90 4WA

Salary: £26,878-£30,252 dependent upon experience

Job type: Permanent, Full time 37.5 hours per week

The Role:

The Careers & Aspirations Specialist will work as part of our Cross Academy Support Team to help deliver our vision to positively impact thousands of young people & their families through holistic education. This role will work across multiple partner schools across a large geographical area. They will work with others from within the education and business sectors to empower students to know who they are and understand their future career potential. Working across our growing number of partner schools they will support schools by providing enriching careers-based educational experiences and provide specialist support that makes an impact.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To deliver lessons, workshops, and educational experiences that help students understand who they are and identify training or career paths they can take in the future including practical next steps.
  • To offer creative dynamic experiences that empower students and contribute to the meeting of the Gatsby Benchmarks for excellent careers education.
  • To work with groups of students at key transition points to identify career pathways and help them make well informed decisions about their future.
  • To holistically help students understand their talents, personality, character traits and skills base with a view to building confidence in who they are and know what they can achieve in their further education, training, and career development.
  • To deliver and support skills-based workshops on topics such as CV writing, teamwork, leadership, and communication to help prepare for the world of work.
  • To work in partnership with our Partner Schools careers and business departments – we are not able to fulfil all their requirements but help enrich their programmes.
  • To manage programmes that enable volunteers from the business sector to train and empower them to work with students in a classroom setting.
  • To develop new content and resources (including online) that help raise student aspirations in line with our Christian ethos.
  • To help signpost to students and school communities to up to date relevant information relating to career pathways across a multitude of sectors.
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by the line management.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Excellent ability to deliver in a classroom setting.
  • Good communicator & facilitator with young people in small groups.
  • Effective organizational skills & ability to multi-task.
  • Effective oral, written, presentation & interpersonal skills.
  • A willingness to work effectively with others & a consistent can-do enthusiastic attitude.
  • Attention to detail & ability to meet deadlines.
  • Confident & able to work on your own initiative.
  • Proficiency with IT applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) & social media.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.
  • Proactive, passionate and ability to provide pastoral care & show empathy & tact.
  • Ability to network with a range of organisations (public, private & voluntary).
  • Ability to work across corporate and educational settings at a senior level.
  • A familiarity with, & an ability to perform in accordance with, the mission, vision & values of Grace Foundation & its Christian ethos.
