St Monica’s trust is a Bristol-based charity giving elderly people the best experience of ageing through our retirement villages, care homes and charitable giving.
We are looking to recruit for a Care worker to work in the Chocolate Quarter Retirement Village in Keynsham.
The Role:
Our care workers positively and actively contribute to the lives of older people living with dementia. The ethos and culture of our care service means that day to day life is centred around building positive and meaningful relationships guided by residents.
You’ll need to be able to think on your feet, be flexible and creative and be prepared for the unexpected! This is a rewarding and challenging role for a people’s person – who has the drive and compassion to ensure our residents live to the very best of their abilities.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- To assist residents with all aspects of personal care in accordance with their care plan and associated risk assessments.
- To ensure that meaningful activity is provided for residents throughout the day (and night if appropriate)
- To provide a person-centred meal and drink service as required on a day to day basis.
- To ensure that residents social and spiritual needs are acknowledged and met.
- Maintain appropriate electronic and paper records.
- Undertake key-worker role for named residents.
- Adherence to St. Monica Trust policies and procedures especially with regard to Moving and Handling, Health & Safety, Data Protection & Protection of Vulnerable Adults.
The Candidate:
- Ability to attend to personal care needs is essential
- Ability to use computerised systems is essential
- Experience of working with older people, disabled people and/or people with dementia is desired
- Knowledge of current best practice in dementia care which supports relationship centred care
- Experience of and/or a knowledge of providing meaningful and stimulating activity for people living with dementia desired
