Job title: Care Assistant
Reports to: Team Leader, Assistant Coordinator
Hours of work: 40 hours, evenings, weekends and split shifts
Salary: £11 per hour
Place of work: L’Arche Ipswich, community house for 6 adults with learning disabilities.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Care Assistant for our Supported Living Services in Ipswich, Suffolk, someone who will go beyond the normal and make life amazing for the people we support! Our Charity supports 15 adults with Learning Disabilities/Autism to lead fulfilling and independent lives whilst being active members of the community.
Main purpose of the role:
As a Care Assistant you will support people with learning disabilities in line with agreed support and care plans, in all aspects of their everyday lives. You will deliver practical, physical and emotional support to people with learning disabilities, whilst proactively promoting choice, independence and self-determination.

Main responsibilities of the role:
Provide high quality support to people with learning disabilities in line with L’Arche values, policies and procedures, and the requirements of the Care Quality Commission [CQC];
Facilitate individuals to meet their leisure, social, practical and spiritual needs and promote their ongoing development of independence;
Assist with household maintenance, including shopping, cooking cleaning and laundry;
Work as one of a team;
Be responsible for clear communication with professionals, families of people whom L’Arche support, advocates, neighbours, visitors and other members of L’Arche who are in contact with the house;
Attend training and formation courses as applicable to this community role;
