Job Title: Café Supervisor
Location: Knepp Castle, West Grinstead, West Sussex RH13 8LJ
Salary: £12.50 per/hour
Job Type: Permanent/Full Time – 35 hours across five working days
Knepp is a 3,500 acre estate just south of Horsham, West Sussex. Since 2001, the land – once intensively farmed – has been devoted to a pioneering rewilding project. Using grazing animals as the drivers of habitat creation, and with the restoration of dynamic, natural water courses, the project has seen extraordinary increases in wildlife.
This summer will see the launch of a new restaurant and shop on the Estate, which will utilise meat from our free ranging animals as well as our new 3-acre market garden. The first element to open will be our coffee trailer for walkers.
The trailer requires setting up, staff being rota’d and trained and products to be sourced. We would like to open this as soon as possible and therefore we ask that only applicants who could start in the next couple of week apply.
Once the café opens in the summer there will be the opportunity to work there as part of the team. This could therefore be a short term or full-time position depending on the candidate’s preference.

Customer experience:
- To ensure high customer experience and promote our ethos
- To champion swift, efficient, knowledgeable, and engaging retail and event service
- To engage with the wider Estate team in the delivery of events
P&L:
- To treat & monitor stock levels as if it belonged to you to ensure minimum variance between actual & book
- Keep track of sales
Operation:
- To maintain a safe workplace
- To ensure the Cafe environment is well maintained and meets internal Brand standards
- Stock ordering and rotation
- Organise and maintain staff rota’s
- Maintain high standards of hot drinks
- Adhering to food safety regulations
- To ensure the safe and secure operation of the trailer (opening, training and closing)
Job Requirements
- Genuine get-up-and-go
- Desire to take ownership of the trailer and make it a trading success
- IIdeally least one year experience in a hospitality managerial role
