The Role:
We’re recruiting for a buyer to join our small but busy team. You will have the opportunity to be developed and given autonomy to make the job your own. You will be responsible for the main liaison with our supplier base, as well as assisting in development of new products; looking at new suppliers and products for use across all of our channels.
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day pricing
- Getting involved with the supplier database and critical path management
- Managing our licensors and facilitating all our approvals for licensed products.
- Maintain all purchasing deadlines across supply chain.
- Overseeing the day-to-day management of supply base for both Third Party and Own Brand products
- Support Merchandising team where needed on Supplier queries and deliveries.
- Ensure replenishment POs are on time from 3rd Party Suppliers – communicating any delays to Merchandising team
- Management of outsource replenishment assistant, ensuring replenishment is on time, and sense-checked before sending for approval to stakeholders
- Overall accountability for Third Party stock levels – maintaining out of stock levels are within target, whilst taking into account stock value level target.
- Purchasing control of all cover-mounts and subscription boxes- assisting to ensure all products required are in or below budget, using product pricing knowledge and experience to ensure competitive pricing and best product is always achieved.
- Assistance in quotation for Ecommerce products, providing landed costs to Head of Buying for selection.
- Communicate as required with brands and licensors within critical path -facilitating approvals and providing this information to stakeholders.
- Support Head of Buying on new product sourcing by circulating samples to the supply base and obtaining quotes.
- Organise and price Own Branded ecommerce replenishment as required
- Source soft crafts subs gifts and passing details to Buying Administrator for ordering
- Support Head of Buying as and when required.
The Individual:
- Experience of working in a Junior/Assistant Buyer role/currently in a hands-on Buyer role
- Strong communication skills to liaise clearly with key stakeholders
- Enthusiastic approach to multi-tasking
- A quick-thinking mentality and a problem-solving attitude is essential.
- Working in a fast-moving environment you must stay calm under pressure, be adaptable and stay focused on achieving the company’s goals.
- You will already have a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing and dealing with a varied supply base, as well as an understanding of end-to-end product lifecycle.
- Good organization skills
- A good understanding of priority management
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience of buying from the far-east is preferred, but not essential.
Flexible working patterns are available and hybrid working once fully trained in the job.
