This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join the Huddersfield BID (Business Improvement District) at the very start of its journey. On 12th July the decision was taken by the businesses in Huddersfield in favour of plans to set up a business improvement district (BID), securing £2 million to be spent on improving the Town over a five year period.

The BID is now looking to recruit a Business / Project Administrator to support the BID Manager and the running of the BID. This will be a hands-on and very varied role required to support all aspects of business administration, plus a diverse range of projects both from an administrative and operational perspective.

The successful candidate will enjoy getting stuck-in, will demonstrate initiative, will have excellent communication and prioritisation skills and a positive can-do attitude willing to ‘don many caps’. You may have experience in all or some of the key areas identified below, in addition to strong administrative and I.T skills:

  • Project / event management
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Social media / PR
  • Effective running of an office environment

This new exciting role will be a key to the success of the BID and the realisation of the 5 year business plan.

The Business / Project Administrator will be required to work 5 days a week, usually Monday to Friday, although some flexibility is essential. The role will involve some evening and weekend work throughout the year to support projects & event delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing regular business visits, dealing with enquiries as they arise or referring these onto the relevant person/organisation.
  • Develop working relationships with partner organisations and agencies across the BID area with whom the BIDs rely for delivery of its business plan.
  • Provide operation and administrative project support to the BID Manager
  • Assist in managing projects ensuring they are delivered in a professional and positive manner while being impactful on the BID area.
  • Provide administration services to the BID to include but not limited to – schedule and manage the Social Media, manage the BID contact database ensuring it is accurate and accessible, provide a communications link between business and other stakeholders, handling email and telephone enquiries from businesses, contractors, suppliers, stakeholders etc, circulating agendas, minutes etc, coordinating meetings.
  • Have a keen overview of finances for the BID in conjunction with the BID Manager
  • Work closely with the BID team to stay appraised of progress relating to the delivery of the business plan.

The Candidate:

  • Excellent I.T Skills
  • Understanding of basic business accounting, budgeting principles
  • 3 years’ relevant experience working in an office / administration role
  • Able to actively project manage and monitor the success of any pilot schemes
  • Able to juggle numerous initiatives and projects concurrently
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to inspire confidence and Identify and address issues and concerns as and when they arise
  • Able to confidently liaise with the BID Board and project stakeholders
  • Experience of working across multiple agencies / stakeholders
  • Resilient and able to solve problems
  • Flexible, innovative and able to respond positively to changing
