Headquartered in Glasgow, we have regional offices in Belfast, Cardiff, Carlisle, Dublin, Dundee, Edinburgh, Forres, Inverness, Leicester, Liverpool and Winchester. The firm is seeking to recruit a senior and/or principal building services engineer to join our growing team, to help in the delivery of a diverse range of engineering projects for our wide-ranging client base.
About the role
Whilst we are seeking someone with a traditional building services background, our position as a leading sustainability consultancy means most of your projects will have a low carbon/net zero aspect, and this will form a significant part of the role. Candidates with experience of this, or desire to upskill in this, are encouraged to apply.
You have the option to be based at any of our office locations, and/or home working if this is preferred. In this instance you would be provided with IT equipment and software/services require to facilitate your efficient home working.

About you:
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will posses an Honours or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar, and have a have a full U.K. driving licence with clean driver record. Professional chartership(s) would be viewed favourably.
Experience & Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have experience with regards to one or more of the following areas/disciplines, preferably in a consultancy role:
- Acting as a Building Services Engineer to ensure the design of projects in an efficient, safe and compliant manner
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of design projects
- Preparing design deliverables to the required standard, within budget and on time
- Low carbon/energy design strategies and energy auditing of existing facilities
- Design and integration of renewable energy systems
- System troubleshooting
- Preparation of technical drawings via AutoCAD or similar
- Working across multiple sectors e.g. commercial-retail, public sector, food and drink, chemical/pharmaceutical, leisure, etc
- Reviewing and approving design work undertaken by others
- Obtaining and reviewing supplier quotations, management of competitive tendering processes
- Ensuring the use of suitable design methods, standards and data as required by legislation and/or client requirements
- Mentoring and support for less experienced colleagues
- Business development, proposal preparation and budgeting
We are looking for an individual who is capable of leading design projects both technically and administratively.
The successful candidate (where necessary) will upskill in energy auditing and will be involved in providing support to a variety of commercial and industrial facilities and the public sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to complement their design experience with sustainability credentials. There is the potential to work towards Certified Energy Manager (CEM), ESOS Lead Assessor, or similar, for the right candidate.
