Job Title: Bench Joiner / Cabinet Maker
Location: Bethnal Green, London
Salary: £18 – £22 per hour (dependent on experience)
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent, 40 hours per week
Benjamin’s Workshop is a furniture joinery company based in Bethnal Green, London. Providing bespoke fitted furniture to domestic and commercial customers across London we primarily supply kitchens, wardrobes, commercial cabinetry and similar bespoke joinery. Increasingly our client base consists of professionals; established designers, main contractors – as well as high end users. On the back of our high-quality product and service we have grown rapidly over the last 12 months and have recently moved to a new, larger workshop where we have made investments to bring all aspects of production in-house.
About the role:
As a result of recently taking on a number of larger, more complex projects we are now seeking an experienced bench joiner to join our workshop team full-time. These projects require a well-developed skillset and therefore the ideal candidate will have proven experience across all aspects of bespoke furniture joinery. They will be able to work independently on their own projects, as well as collaboratively as part of the team on other projects and have experience in onsite work and not just in a workshop.
Responsibilities:
- Cutting, planning and edging a range of materials
- Confident with woodworking machinery panel saws & edgebanders
- Applying veneers and laminates to sheet material
- Jointing using a range of tools and techniques
- Shaping including radius details & handles
- Making scribes and finishing panels
- Fully assemble a range of items in the workshop
- Prepare work for finishing
- Work on installation with the team
Skills Required:
- Minimum of 4 years experience as a bench joiner or similar
- Knowledge of various techniques including lamello, domino & router
- To be confident in the above duties as well as in the workshop’s processes
- Ability to work on projects both alone and with the team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High customer service skills ensuring client satisfaction from start to finish
- Organisation, flexibility and time management are crucial along with the ability to multi-task, prioritise and meet tight deadlines
- Vocational qualifications preferred
- UK work authorisation
