Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a customer-centric phlebotomy service that serves the community and the local healthcare services
- Be the main source of knowledge and information about phlebotomy, its provision, and the performance of the service, for the organisation and its customers
- To provide effective leadership and management to all employees and others within phlebotomy and the wider community
- Ensure compliance with all relevant current and future legislation, including requirements of all appropriate regulatory bodies, requirements for external accreditation to an international standard, and guidelines from professional organisations
- Effective use of IT systems for employee rostering, management of appointments, patient flow and service performance, and requesting and labelling of samples
- Ensuring appropriate planning and development for the future is undertaken, including undertaking research and audits, producing reports and presenting findings
Desired Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Experience of managing a large clinical service, including management of patient flow and workforce management
- Expert level knowledge of phlebotomy services
- Expert knowledge of guidelines and protocols relating to phlebotomy
- Strong experience of completing and managing rotas
- Knowledge of relevant computer applications, including appointments booking and call handling systems
- Experience of managing staff and HR issues working within guidance of policies and procedures.
- Experienced and clear communicator of complex information and results, with the ability to discuss issues which may be contentious and require persuasive and reassurance skills
Desirable:
- Management qualification e.g. DMS or equivalent experience
- Health and safety qualification to IOSH standard
- Project management experience, skills and qualifications
- Continuous Improvement knowledge and thinking
