Job Title: Band 5 Phlebotomy Training & Education Lead

Location: Basildon, Essex

Salary: £28,407 – £34,581

Job Type: Permanent/Full-time

The Role:

At Pathology First we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 5 Phlebotomy Training & Education Lead. We are looking for an experienced Phlebotomist who is self-motivated, flexible and has a passion for delivering training that truly makes a difference to the team and the patients they look after.

You will be required to work at multiple sites (Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital, Southend University Hospital and other local community clinics throughout South Essex) at times between 7am and 7pm depending on the trainees rota.

You will be required to hold a full UK driving license and have access to your own vehicle for work, this is essential because the role involves working across multiple sites in Mid and South Essex.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Co-ordination of all training and education requirements for the Phlebotomy services at Pathology First.
  • Ensuring all our Phlebotomists are trained to the highest standards ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Managing, developing, and promoting the Phlebotomy Academy in Pathology First to train all new and potential Phlebotomy recruits.
  • Developing training materials and course content, using various media.
  • Ensuring all Phlebotomy staff undertake regular competency assessments and their mandatory training.
  • Promoting enhanced competencies and personal development of Phlebotomists, Receptionists, Telephone Support and Portering staff.

Essential:

  • 5 GCSE ‘O’ levels (Grades A-C) or equivalent to include English or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 24 months previous phlebotomy experience at supervisory level.
  • Phlebotomy skills and knowledge at expert level.
  • Previous experience of providing training, presenting information and giving feedback to staff.
  • Full UK driving licence and use of car for work.

Desirable:

  • Basic CPR and First Aid.
  • Previous knowledge of ISO15189 and CQC standards.
  • Certified with National Association of Phlebotomist as trainer.
