Job Title: Assistant Warehouse Manager

Location: Chelmsford

Salary: £29-30k per year

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time – 9:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday- Friday with 30 minute break for lunch.

The Role:

  • Support Warehouse Manager to deal with management of staff and ensure that all relevant HR procedures are followed.
  • To ensure products, goods, parcels and customer’s orders are prepared, accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensuring proper handling of all equipment and Health & Safety by following all guidelines set out by The Company to maintain a warehouse of excellence.
  • Ensuring all regulatory and legislative requirements are upheld
  • You will have a strong work ethic to encourage high energy levels and not be phased by having difficult conversations, when necessary, with members of your Team.
  • You should have exceptional leadership and direction as role is likely to be a mixture of walking the floor, offering guidance to Team and office management

Key Responsibilities:

  • Must hold a current Forklift Licence and be prepared to assist in the loading /unloading of deliveries / Orders
  • Act as Key Holder and be responsible for site security
  • Oversee Warehouse housekeeping to ensure Health & Safety guidelines are adhered to and any issues are reported back to Warehouse Management Team
  • Maintaining effective paperwork & documents
  • Plan and manage distribution of goods
  • Oversee staff to ensure correct procedures are followed
  • Stock organisation and rotation
  • Strong IT skills, Microsoft Office, database and experience of various software packages such as Max Optra Vehicle Routing, Sage Order Management and Sicon CRM
  • Maintaining Health & Safety
  • Stock Administration
  • Plan and manage all day-to-day duties as well as planning for all future changes
  • Use daily and monthly rotas to ensure staff are clearly informed of expected tasks.
  • Ensure staff carry out consistent Stock Control Reports, complete full investigations of any stock discrepancies and report to Directors
  • Take responsibility for optimising the layout of the Warehouse
  • Attend and report at branch Management and Sales meetings as and when required
  • Be responsible for all aspects of Health & Safety within the Warehouse environment
  • Ensure that all vehicles are regularly maintained and all aspects of vehicle maintenance and operation conform to regulations
  • Maintain Equipment Maintenance Log and ensure that all equipment is regularly serviced and kept fully operational
  • Take responsibility for the reporting of any discrepancies or damaged goods advised by members of the Warehouse team.
  • Be able to proactively lead and motivate a Team as well as being able to work under pressure whilst ensuring that any operational processes required are introduced and adhered to
  • Maintain clear and concise communication with all members of staff.
  • Organises stock in accordance with daily orders and keeping them separated and in good rotation.
  • Transfer of pallets and crates; forklift usage if necessary
  • Ensuring traceability is kept and recorded efficiently in line with the Company process
  • All use of PDC’s warehouse equipment is responsible and compliant with all Health & Safety procedures and processes
  • To assist with covering responsibilities of other members of the team in their absence
  • To take pride in appearance as a reflection of PDC
  • To take responsibility for your own health, safety and wellbeing; and of that of visitors and other employees, ensuring compliance with PDC’s Health & Safety policy, procedures and safe systems of work
  • To be responsible for own behaviour and acting in a manner that avoids and discourages any form of discrimination and harassment
  • To ensure full compliance with all PDC policies
  • To willingly carry out any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role and PDC as a company

Required Competencies:

Required;

  • Must have experience managing in a picking/packing environment
  • Forklift (Counterbalance) Licence
  • Three years’ experience in a similar management role
  • Ability to organise & prioritise
  • Maths & English at GCSE Grade C or 4

Desired;

  • Great communication skills
  • Logistics and/or warehouse experience
